What Averrunes will be
A World Taking Shape
Averrunes is our small MMORPG project, which the three of us work on in our spare time. We all have our ordinary jobs and keep building the game whenever time allows. Sometimes that means a few hours in the evening, sometimes a whole weekend.
The idea came about mainly because we miss the MMORPGs of the old days. Games that do not explain everything to you straight away, where you travel together, discover things, and where a world slowly starts to feel familiar.
That is the feeling we would like to capture again, at least a little, with Averrunes. Not as some huge promise, and not with any claim to be building the next great MMO. We simply want to create a world we would enjoy spending time in ourselves.
Over the past months quite a lot has come together, and many of the underlying systems now work. Now we are starting to turn all that technology into a real world, bit by bit.

Five rune masters gave their lives and left one sign each. The sixth, however, never set a chisel to stone. He said only:

The Story Before the Game
Before our story begins, a great deal has already happened in Averrunes.
An old scribe from Greenvale spent years gathering everything he could find about the world, its realms and its past. His records tell of the tree Averan, of the first rune masters, and of events that have shaped Averrunes to this day.
The chronicle leads through long vanished ages all the way to Valandor and the young king, whose own story has only just begun.

In future we would like to take you along on YouTube while we build Averrunes. We want to show short videos, give you a look inside the game and talk about what we are working on right now.
Sometimes it will be about new systems, sometimes about an area we are building, and sometimes simply about things that do not yet work the way we imagined.
